[Sunday Thoughts] Über das alte Leben und die Vergangenheit - Dorfkind? Stadtkind! // About the old live and the past - country girl? City girl!

Habe mein altes Leben hinter mir zurückgelassen.

An meine erste große Liebe. An Liebeskummer. An die vielen Tränen. An Enttäuschungen und an Glücksmomente. Ich erinnere mich an unsere Träume. An unsere Unternehmungen. An unser Lachen. An unsere Wut.

Meine Heimat.

Mein Zuhause. Weit weg.

Die Bilder sind noch da. Die Erinnerungen. In meinem Kopf. Verschwommen. Da und gleichzeitig auch nicht. Nicht wirklich.

Ich habe mein altes Leben zurückgelassen. Es ist jetzt Vergangenheit.

Und vielleicht ist das auch besser so.

I´m a country girl. I should be a country girl. But honestly I´ve never been. Grewn up in a small village. Surrounded with fields and grassland and cows.

About the old live and the past - country girl? City girl!

Lieberties you don´t have in a city.

Tobogganing in front of your flat.
Forests to discover - right around the corner.
A beck to play in.
Trees to climb to.
Puddles and mud.
Country lanes where we could drive bicycle or tricycle or unicycle.
Animals to touch, not only in books.
Everybody knows everyone.

It has a lot of benefits. A childhood on the country I would prefer instead of a childhood in a city. If I weren´t me.

About the old live and the past - country girl? City girl!

I never really were at home there. I never really belong to. I was different.

All were talking in that strange dialect I never understood. I was conspicous. With my nearly High German and my correct diction and spelling. With my fear of dogs. With my antipathy against cow-smell and mud. With my love to High-Heels. With my denial to never want everything about anyone to know. I was conspicous.
Because I was different.
Because I was like a city girl who accidently landed in the country.

Country girl?
City girl!

About the old live and the past - country girl? City girl!

As I moved to town I left this life. I did not just left school. The village. My old home. I left my old life and started a new one. I left most of the people as well. Most names I forgot. Most faces I wouldn´t imagine. And I have no regrets because of that.
I wasn´t able to stay in contact with every friend which were important to me or still are. We lost us. Started different lives. Developing in different directions. I´m thankful for those friends where still left out of my old live. But I don´t miss the rest. I went. I left my old live behind. And I left them behind. That´s live. And that´s me.

Sometimes I imagine. Moments out of school time. Bad and good ones. The badest time of my live: basic primary school. The funny and mostly wonderful time in secondary modern school. And the stressfull time in grammar school where I learned and worked a lot. I imagine those old friends. I imagine my first big love. I imagine my broken heart and the heartsickness. The tears. The frustrations and happy moments. I imagine our dreams. Our adventures. Our laughs. Our anger. Our sadness. I imagine those who insulted and offended me. Those who I could laugh with. I imagine those I hated and those I loved. I don´t have contact to the most of them and sometimes, really rarely I think about how and who they are now. But I don´t like to talk about myself. So I never ask.

I like to come back. My homeland. But not my home. I like to visit my family, because I love them. But I´m as well glad to leave and to go home.

Home. Not my small home village. A big city.
My home. Far away.

The pictures are still there. The memories. In my head. Blurred. There but in the same time
they´re not. Not really.

I´ve left my old live. It´s past now.

And maybe that´s better this way.
